Come Near to the People - Food Distribution Campaign

In the midst of the financial crisis, how would the Lord command His people to rise up and be salt and light? We have been awaiting commands from the Lord. During a prayer meeting in mid-January, the following words resounded in my heart - "Come near to them". I immediately thought about "Emmaus". I opened the Bible to Luke 24 and found the following verse: "Jesus himself came up and walked along with them." (Lk. 24:15) The Lord has spoken to us and commanded us to work! The Lord has issued an order! Hallelujah! When I read the passage in detail, I was deeply moved by the love of the Lord. The glorious Lord of resurrection was willing to come near to the two disciples whose faces were downcast, and to listen to their sharing. Jesus also explained to them using the Bible in order to help them understand. Today we should also do the same and share the word of the Lord with those who are downcast. We should pray for them using the word of the Lord as well. Not only so, we should give out bread to them. (Lk. 24:30) In this moment, the Lord enabled me to remember how the church handed out milk powder when I was young. At that time I felt that the church was wonderful as it regularly shared food to those in need. Today how are we going to pray for the weary hearts? How do we share the word of the Lord to them, so that their hearts can become zealous again? How do we give the bread to the people?

In early January this year, Jireh Fund and the Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance Tai Wai Church co-organized a prayer meeting. The purpose was to pray for the people whose livelihood was affected by the financial crisis. The meeting was attended by about 100 people although we only publicized the event to those within the church. Among the participants were individuals who were awaiting employment. There were also those who were frustrated because of their unemployed family members. There were those who were worried about their business, and those who were emotionally affected... We see the pressing concern brought by the adversity. We therefore thought that it was important to organize the prayer meetings in different regions or communities, so that we could come near to the people and pray for them. This enabled them to know that God truly cared for them by sending people to provide them with help. May their strength be renewed. In addition to praying for the people, we also prepare prayer handbooks and pocket-size cards with biblical verses printed on them. This enabled the people to find spiritual satisfaction. It was hoped that they would regularly remember the word of God. In addition to preparing spiritual food, we also prepare food items for those with financial hardships. In this way food came to these people. Moreover, we should spread the love of the Lord and the service of the church, so that more people might know the truthfulness of the church. We prepare small food boxes that contain canned food. The food box is printed with a label that had the following words on it: "Jesus Loves the People, Church is Helpful". Every week we deliver the food boxes to the communities that are in need. We hand out to the needy on the streets and deliver in person to those living in apartments. May the good news of the gospel come near to them so that they may see.

Brothers and sisters, we need to rise up and participate in this meaningful cause. Please pray for us and ask the Lord to open up a new path. May all personal contacts and our applications submitted to the various government departments be received with favor and acceptance. May the acts of care that Christians showed to the community be revealed in a more tangible way. We thank you for your prayers. May the Lord remember what you offer. Thank you Lord.

"Praying Moms" Caring Ministry

This is a caring ministry for the ladies who are unmarried. Jireh Fund has recruited some married women with a passion to intercede for the unmarried ladies. In addition to using a fixed prayer to pray specifically for a young lady everyday, the praying moms would call the ladies about once every ten days and pray for their future marriage. We also hold joint meetings on a regular basis so that the praying moms and ladies may express their thanks to one another. The ladies have said that they are greatly encouraged as this has been a tangible way in experiencing God's care in their lives. (Details and enquiries: Amen Ladies' Worship and Prayer Meeting)

Pray and Bless the Children for the New School Year

Amen Women's Worship and Prayer Meeting holds a special meeting at the beginning of every school year. The purpose is to bless and pray for the children at the beginning of their school year. Many mothers have brought their children to the meeting. These children range from attending kindergartens to those in secondary schools. The program includes worship, message sharing and prayers of blessings for the learning experiences of these children . In addition, we also pray for the adjustment of those entering primary one or form one . All are welcome to register and attend this meeting. An Invitation from the Heavenly Father to the Children with Absent Fathers

During Easter in 2007, we held the "Invitation from the Heavenly Father" for the children whose fathers were absent in their families. We hope that through this event these children might be introduced to the Heavenly Father so that He can be their help. We also encouraged them to pray to the Heavenly Father in order to establish a relationship with Him. Through message sharing we also introduced what it meant to excel in study and achieve personal growth. We also prayed and blessed the children and their mothers. It is our hope to organize the event every year, so that we can leave with the children a wonderful memory and that their hearts be filled with hope.

Joy and Peace be with Tin Shui Wai

In order to care for the single parent families, particularly those unable to return to China for family reunion, we have held a special meeting called "New Year with Joy and Peace" at the Harbour Plaza Resort City during Chinese New Year in 2008. This was in addition to the monthly Amen Women's Worship and Prayer Meeting (Tin Shui Wai) held at Tin Shui Wai, as well as the "Seek Peace for Tin Shui Wai" prayer campaign. The sisters eagerly invited their neighbors to attend the meeting. We hope that they will know Jesus is the source of joy and peace through the message, testimony and songs. We also led them to bless Tin Shui Wai.

Other Caring Ministries

In addition to organizing evangelistic meetings for the elderly and those recovering from mental illnesses, Jireh Fund gives out new year delicacies and moon cakes to these individuals before Chinese New Year and mid-autumn Festival.

Since 2000, we have been organizing evangelistic meetings with the Hong Kong Christian Kun Sun Association every Christmas in different women prisons, including Tai Lam Center for Women, Chi Ma Wan Correctional Institution and Drug Addiction Treatment Center, and Lai Chi Kok Correctional Institution.

In addition, we also regularly visit Hong Chi Pinehill #3 School to pray for the children who are mentally-handicapped.
