"Set Me Free" Worship and Prayer Meetings

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. (2 Co. 3:17)

Since there is a trend that the mental patients in Hong Kong are getting younger nowadays, we hope that the emotionally disturbed and stressed believers as well as the non-believers may be able to experience the help of God. In 1999, the "emotion and stress ministry" was at its developing stage. As we continued to pray for the development of this ministry, God gave us the message about the Israelites during their exodus. Time after time God commanded Moses to tell Pharaoh, "Let my people go so that they may worship me", and gave us the song about "God said, 'set my people free' ". This clearly showed that God desired to deliver these brothers and sisters from the disturbance caused by their emotional turmoil. As a result, this ministry has been named as ''Set Me Free'' and in February 2000, the worship and prayer meeting was held regularly, in which the emotionally stressed and disturbed individuals were able to experience freedom and healing through worship, message sharing, prayer and hymn singing.

In addition, we have specially written "Set Me Free" prayer handbook series to help the emotionally disturbed experience a renewal of thinking and healing by the word of God. We encourage them to read aloud and meditate on the prayers everyday after the meeting. At the same time, we have also written prayers for intercessors so that they may participate in this prayer scheme to intercede for brothers and sisters. May spurring one another on toward love and good deeds be lived out in our daily lives.

Set Our Youths and Teenagers Free

"The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." (Jn. 1:14) Every time when I face brothers and sisters whose lives are either in bondage or emotionally disturbed, I will always fervently ask the Lord's grace to come upon them. This is so that they would be released from bondage and receive healing. Next, I would teach them to understand the truth, so their hearts and minds would be renewed, and not return to their former way of life. This type of ministry is characterized by both "grace" and "truth", and has its foundation built upon the word of God. Not only does it demonstrate clarity and power, it also enables easy understanding for the participants. This also touches lives of those in different ages. Among the modern youth and young adults today, there is an increase in those who are emotionally disturbed. God impresses upon our hearts in the following way: If we can pray for them during the early stage when their emotional disturbances surface, then this would be beneficial indeed. But if we can pray for them even before their disturbances emerge, then this would be even better. Taking one step further back, would not this be marvelous if we can pray for the children and teach them how to pray to the Heavenly Father when they are young, as many of the problems experienced by adults are actually unresolved problems originated from their childhood. In order to enable these youth and young adults to be cured as soon as possible, beginning 2002, we have held "Set Our Teenagers Free" and "Set Our Youths Free" Worship and Prayer Meeting every month. The purpose of this meeting is to enrich their thinking and to expand their thinking through the word of God, enabling them to have a renewed mind and heart. They can be delivered from the bondages in their thought patterns. Next, intercessors will pray for them, so that the Lord's healing and peace may come upon them.

I am Not the Same: Seven Steps to Strengthen One's Spirit

"My mouth will speak words of wisdom; the utterance from my heart will give understanding." (Ps. 49:3)

We truly believe that God's word is health to a man's whole body. Therefore, Jireh Fund and Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service have jointly organized a course on "I am Not the Same: Seven Steps to Strengthen One's Spirit". We hope that through systematic biblical teaching and prayer, we seek to help the emotionally disturbed to gain a fuller understanding of themselves through the Bible; to care for the needs of the soul; to face the world with love and to use the Bible as the support of their lives, so that they can walk away from the shadow of darkness.
