Journey of Praying for Hong Kong

2008

January The southern and eastern regions of mainland China were hit by blizzards and resulted in severe living conditions. Hundreds of thousands of workers were left stranded at the train stations as they waited to return home for the holidays. In the prayer ad placed under the name of "Every Morning at Eight O'clock, Bless Hong Kong for Five Minutes" in the local newspaper, we called upon believers to pray in unity and plead the Lord to cease the blizzards.
February 6 - February 7 "New Year with Joy and Peace" - a Lunar New Year prayer meeting was held.
February In order to cease the adverse effects brought about by the "sex photos", we called upon brothers and sisters to intercede for our city as we place prayer ads under the name of "Every Morning at Eight O'clock, Bless Hong Kong for Five Minutes" in the local newspaper. In addition, we published the "Guard Your Hearts" prayer handbook to encourage schools to lead their students in prayer. May God bestow mercy and purify hearts of mankind from being contaminated.
March Our city was threatened by influenza, and those infected were young children who were unable to tell their right hand from their left. We also placed prayer ads under the name of "Every Morning at Eight O'clock, Bless Hong Kong for Five Minutes" in the local newspaper and called upon people to pray in unity. May the Lord cease such threats and save the children. May the Lord also keep our city in the state of tranquility and peace.
April 30 - August 7 The 2008 Olympics will soon be held at Beijing in China. Our intercessors at Beijing have spent the last seven years praying for this spectacular event of the century. During this final 100-day countdown, we hope you would participate with us in prayer. The "Do This" million-hour All Nations Prayer Net therefore published the "Shalom! Olympics" prayer handbook and called upon churches and believers to welcome the Olympics by praying for 100 days beginning April 30.

May 2

"Shalom! Olympics" Prayer Meeting for the Olympics

The Olympic torch began its relay in China on May 2 with Hong Kong as the first stop. Due to the intense conflicts initiated during the relay at different overseas cities, a prayer meeting was held from 10am to 5pm that day for the torch relay at Hong Kong, praying for peace upon the Olympics and our city. We were able to watch the live TV broadcast from time to time and prayed for the entire process.
June

Launch of the Ninth Million-Hour Prayer

The 7-month Million-Hour prayer will be completed by the end of December.
